How to Do This Activity

Blow bubbles and encourage your child to chase and pop them. Start with just a few bubbles at a time. Let them try blowing bubbles too, though most toddlers will still be learning this skill. The chasing and reaching provides great movement practice.

Why It Works

Active play that involves running and reaching develops cardiovascular fitness and motor coordination. Research demonstrates that higher levels of physical fitness are associated with better psychological wellbeing in children (Jaekel, 2024). Bubble chasing naturally motivates toddlers to move in varied ways while tracking moving objects.

Tips for Parents

Blow bubbles at different heights so they practice reaching up and bending down. Do this outside when possible. It gives more space for running and chasing.
