As your child plays, cries, laughs, or gets frustrated, label what you see. Say things like 'You're happy right now' or 'You seem frustrated when the toy is out of reach.' Naming emotions gives your child language for internal experiences and shows you understand what they're feeling.

Why It Works

Emotional coaching through labeling emotions helps children develop emotional vocabulary and recognition skills.
